Leadership & Community

Engaged. Invested. Present.

Nicholas believes strong organizations and communities are built through thoughtful leadership, sound governance, and meaningful involvement — a conviction reflected in his board service, civic engagement, and support of Nashville's cultural and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Board Leadership
Governance in practice

Board service is not a credential — it is a commitment. Nicholas approaches governance with the same rigor and judgment he brings to his professional work: asking hard questions, supporting strong management, and helping organizations build the foundations they need to endure.

Nashville Opera
2023 – Present
President, Board of Directors
Board Member since 2021 · Vice President 2022 · President 2023–Present

Nashville Opera is one of Tennessee's premier performing arts organizations, bringing world-class opera to Nashville audiences and to communities across the region through education and outreach programs. As President of the Board of Directors, Nicholas provides executive leadership and governance oversight for the organization — supporting its artistic mission, financial sustainability, and long-term growth.

Nashville has been fortunate to have been led by outstanding citizens who both contributed their own means and rallied the community to contribute alongside them to fund, build, and maintain the essential community, arts, and charitable organizations that are the fabric of culture and community in our city. As we embark on an era with new residents from across the country and around the world, we must rise to the challenge to not only preserve, but also further, these organizations. It is incumbent upon each of us to welcome newcomers to our communities, expose them to our organizations, foster belonging, and build the bonds of stewardship that inspire new commitments and personal investments of talent, time, and treasure.

Community Involvement
Nashville's ecosystem

Nicholas's community involvement reflects a consistent thread: investing in the people, organizations, and conversations that make Nashville a place where business, culture, and innovation can thrive together.

Entrepreneurship & Fintech

Nicholas has been an active participant in Nashville's entrepreneurial and fintech community for years — through mentorship, programming, and engagement with founders, investors, and emerging business leaders. His involvement with the Nashville Entrepreneur Center's Project Fintech program reflects a genuine interest in supporting the next generation of financial technology innovation in the region.

Founder & Investor Community

Nicholas participates in events and discussions involving entrepreneurs, founders, investors, and private capital — with a focus on organizations and individuals at the intersection of entrepreneurship and private capital that continue to support the growth and development of Nashville's business and innovation ecosystem.

Arts, Culture & Education

Beyond his board leadership at Nashville Opera, Nicholas supports organizations and initiatives that contribute to arts education, cultural development, and Nashville's quality of life — recognizing that a city's cultural institutions are as essential to its identity as its economic ones.

Civic & Professional Organizations

Nicholas is engaged across a range of professional and civic organizations that reflect his interests in governance, private capital, business leadership, and community development.

Approach
A town square approach

Nicholas describes his approach to community and leadership as a "town square" philosophy — cultivating meaningful conversations and connections across constituencies to form or reinforce concentric circles of collaboration and impact.

Whether in a boardroom, at a panel, or in a conversation with a founder, he brings the same orientation: listen carefully, ask the right questions, connect the right people, and invest in outcomes that matter beyond the immediate transaction.

In Nashville, he has found a city that rewards exactly that kind of thinking — one where business, community, and culture intersect in ways that create real opportunity for those willing to show up and stay involved.
